How the public sector can sustainably measure and manage emissions

Kin + Carta and the Civil Service Environment Network's joint stand at Civil Service Live London 2022

Sustainable action at Civil Service Live

We were delighted to attend Civil Service Live 2022 in both London and Edinburgh this year. This is the UK Civil Service's annual conference, bringing together thousands of civil servants to learn new skills, build stronger departmental relationships, and discover innovative new ways of working.

Kin + Carta's Emma Charles and Nick Woodley delivered a highly-attended session on how digital delivery and public sector projects can become more sustainable, through the measurement and management of carbon emissions.

We demonstrated practical steps all government departments and public sector organisations can take to reduce the carbon footprint of their projects, and demonstrated how we are doing this in our work with the Planning Inspectorate and others. Watch the talk below.

Partnering with the Civil Service Environment Network

We've entered into a partnership with the Civil Service Environment Network (CSEN) whose mission is to build environmental knowledge and policy capability across the Civil Service. We’ll be working closely together with them to build their membership, and to achieve our common goal of delivering sustainable digital public services.

Find out more about CSEN here.

3,000 trees planted

In support of CSEN's membership ambitions, we pledged to plant 10 trees for every new member who joined the Network at Civil Service Live. We are proud to announce that we are planting 3,000 trees on behalf of CSEN, as we helped add 270 new members.
