The role in a nutshell:

As a Senior Java Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in every project you engage with. Your expertise will serve as the backbone to guide and support your project team in various capacities.  Sharing your enthusiasm and experience, you'll empower your colleagues, encouraging them to embrace new challenges and excel. Your success will be largely based on the success of those you mentor and guide.

At Kin + Carta, you'll have the chance to emerge as a standout expert in Java development. Collaborating with the team, you'll actively contribute to refining our product proposition for new clients and grow our in-house team of engineering experts.

What you can expect

  • Work on custom projects for clients, sometimes very closely with their team
  • Keep a healthy communication with your project manager and client
  • Take active part in all project stages – analysis, estimation, documentation, coding, bug fixing and support
  • Develop our own products
  • Learn from your colleagues and teach them what you know 

The type of person we’d like to meet:

  • 5+ years commercial software experience
  • Excellent understanding of Java 8+
  • Excellent knowledge of OOP, data structures and algorithms
  • Understanding of Big O notation and performance analysis
  • Excellent knowledge with Spring and Spring Boot
  • Experience with git or other version control
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of software architectural and design patterns and experience as software architect
  • Experience with distributed architecture principles and solutions for performance, scale, and reliability
  • Experience building and packaging components/services, cloud/on-premise deployments, CI/CD pipelines, operational monitoring and observability, experience working with Docker and orchestration of containers
  • Experience with databases (relational and non-relational), database architecture and distributed transaction management; fluent in SQL
  • Solid understanding of network and content delivery services (VPC services, Gateway services, NLB, ALB)
  • Experience with distributed system security
  • Experience with writing/reviewing technical design documents, choosing right technology stack
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum
  • Good communication and analytical skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience building RESTful APIs
  • Experience handling large data sets
  • Integration experience with third party API’s
  • Performance analysis of JVM technology
  • Experience working with Kubernetes
  • Experience with Spring Cloud or Quarkus
  • Experience with Maven/Gradle/Ant
  • Experience with developing batch/streaming data processing pipelines
  • Advanced knowledge in databases such as partitioning and indexing
  • Knowledge in Elastic services and tools is a plus
  • Knowledge in Salesforce is a plus
  • Experience with at least one of the following databases: MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL
  • Experience with at least one of the following databases: MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redshift, Cassandra or other
