The role in a nutshell

This new role will join our Global Business Services Centre in Sofia, Bulgaria. You will be a key member in the new team and will have a passion for maximising efficiency and effectiveness throughout your area of expertise. 

The Senior General Accountant will have responsibility for an entire entity ithin the GBS team. They will work closely with their UK based stakeholders to deliver a complete set of financial acocunts with supporting balance sheet reconciliations. They will provide support and feedback to the Accounts Payable team to ensure accurate and timely posting.

The ideal candidate will have worked in a previous shared service centre and ideally have experience producing elements of financial accounts.

What you can expect

Financial Accounting

  • Prepare journals for monthly management accounts.
  • Calculate prepayments and accruals
  • Maintain fixed asset registers and post monthly depreciation
  • Analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
  • Provide support for UK based stakeholders
  • Reconciliation of inter-company accounts
  • Bank reconciliations in multiple currencies
  • Assist in administering the company credit card
  • Production and submission of UK VAT refunds

Shared Services Continuous Improvement

  • Provide support and feedback to the Accounts Payable team to ensure accurate postings
  • Act as a reviewer of AP team mates work
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency across all aspects of the financial processes
  • Promote best practice and continue with business process improvements and reengineering to drive efficiency add value and add value to the business


  • Participate in transferring of work from UK entities to Sofia
  • Other activities as directed by senior leadership

The type of person we'd like to meet

  • 4+ years proved Shared Service centre / BPO accounting experience
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Intermediate
  • University diploma (Bachelors or Masters) in Accounting or Finance
  • Understanding of IFRS
  • ERP systems experience
  • Desire to learn about cutting edge automation tools to enhance transactional finance processes
  • Team work – cooperates and works well with others in pursuit of team goals
  • A strong customer focus
  • A flexible can do attitude
  • Ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders
  • A desitre to teach and train fellow colleagues

Nice to Have

  • Previous audit experience
  • FinancialForce experience
  • Google suite experience
  • An understanding of UK GAAP
  • ACA / CIMA / ACCA part qualified or equivalent

Here’s what to expect from the interview process at Kin + Carta: 

Intro Call with the Talent Team (30 mins) – If your skills and experience match the role requirements, our Talent team will contact you to arrange a call.  The aim of this call is to get to know you and for you to find out more about Kin + Carta. This call can be held either by telephone or Zoom. After this call, if we feel like you are a good match for the role, you’ll be invited to a first-stage interview.

First-Stage Interview (45 minutes) - This will typically be a Q&A style interview, lasting approximately 45 minutes. This process is designed to help our team find out about your skills and experience but also what you enjoy and what motivates you. It’s a great opportunity for you to ask our team questions and  learn more about us! If you are successful in the first stage interview, you will progress to the next stage of our interview process

Making a Decision - Following the interview process, our hiring team will get together to discuss feedback and make a final decision. We aim to get back to you as soon as we possibly can!
