The role in a nutshell

This new role will join our new Global Business Services Centre in Sofia, Bulgaria. You will be a key member in the new team and will have a passion for building great teams, maximising efficiency and effectiveness throughout your area of expertise.
Your role will have a direct impact on our international operations and you’ll be required to collaborate closely with the London based Group Reporting team, the Deputy Group CFO and other senior finance leaders based in the United Kingdom and the United States.
This role will give you the chance to work on exciting tax based projects to deliver meaningful change to the organisation

What you can expect

Corporation tax compliance  

  • Coordination and preparation of UK and US annual tax returns.
  • Preparation of the consolidated tax reporting package and associated disclosure notes for the consolidated annual report.
  • Preparation of the tax note for UK inclusion on subsidiary accounts.
  • Liaise with external advisors for UK & US research and development claims.
  • Work with external advisors as necessary to provide expert advice to Deputy Group CFO and other senior finance stakeholders.

Projects and other focus areas

  • Develop, document and implement transfer pricing methodologies.
  • Document and implement a interrcompany loan process.
  • Work with external advisors to present opinions on tax structuring for M&A and for purchase price allocations for acquisitions.
  • Support tax planning for group financing arrangements.

Shared Services continual improvement

  • Establish and improve global tax reporting tools and processes, driving their continuous development with a high degree of independence.
  • Develop internal controls and appropriate documentation for compliance in your domain.
  • Participate in continuous development initiatives for the shares service centre.

General

  • Maintain relationships with external advisors
  • Other activities as directed by senior leadership
  • The flexibility to cross over US hours of operations on occasions.

 

Essential Skills

  • Good demonstrable knowledge of IFRS framework.
  • in particular the deferred tax regime.
  • Understanding of EU VAT regime.
  • Big 4 background audit or advisory experience.
  • Previous shared service centre / BPO experience.
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/IMA) or equivalent or tax specialist (CTA) or equivalent.
  • Desire to learn about cutting edge automation tools to enhance transactional finance processes
  • Team work – cooperates and works well with others in pursuit of team goals
  • A flexible “can do” attitude
  • A strong customer focus
  • Ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of tax aspects of share based
  • compensation
  • Understanding of US tax structures
  • Previous shared service centre / BPO experience
