The Role

Kin + Carta are looking for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial and dedicated Agile Delivery Lead (ADL) to join our growing Public Sector team. This role comprises a mix of delivery leadership across varied and sometimes complex agile projects and programmes. agile coaching, and client management. Our ADL’s work with our expert in-house teams of developers, designers and testing engineers to deliver innovative, high-quality software. Our government client list includes Test and Trace, the Home Office, Trade Remedies Authority, DLUHC, National Crime Agency and Planning Inspectorate, and is growing rapidly. 

As a Public Sector Lead Agile Delivery Lead, your role will be to give the team, client and project the best possible opportunity to succeed in a variety of public sector environments. You should have led the agile delivery of complex and varied software projects or programmes within the public sector as a Delivery Manager, owning, driving & optimising delivery. You should also have demonstrable experience of multiple agile methods, tools and practices (Scrum, Kanban, Lean etc.) and be able to pragmatically apply and coach them as required. You should have led change initiatives for clients, understanding areas of pain and introducing and coaching optimised ways of working. 

Alongside delivering client projects, you should have experience growing and developing an internal team, including managing, mentoring and hiring people, and building out and developing the agile delivery craft. You will have experience leading internal company level change or improvement initiatives, e.g. helping to develop knowledge of government ways of working across our delivery lead practice.

Required skills and responsibilities:

  • Leadership - Lead by example, support the teams’ development and growth via management, coaching and hiring
  • Innovation and Ambiguity - comfortable taking the initiative and working with ambiguity, helping K+C deliver software and transform clients’ ways of working in new and better ways 
  • User needs - passionate about considering the needs of users and reflecting them at the centre of the delivery process.
  • Agility at scale - Deliver complex programmes of work or significant change initiatives 
  • Delivery ownership - Own your project or programme’s delivery plan and visualise and radiate information for the team and client to ensure transparency, even in less than perfect or complex circumstances
  • Stakeholder management - Build relationships with and influence stakeholders at all levels including C-Suite, managing their expectations. Work with key external stakeholders, including CDDO, GDS and DCMS, to understand their requirements and bring these effectively into the work of the team
  • Process - Own the team’s processes, ensuring agile approaches are pragmatically adopted and maintained 
  • Coaching - Coach teams and clients to enhance their agility and help them develop
  • Life-cycle perspective - use experience of multiple parts of the discovery, alpha, beta, live, product life cycle, and learnings from working with CDDO and GDS to recognise appropriate deliverables and when it is right to move forward
  • Continuous improvement - Use varying tools and techniques to identify and drive improvements to quality and delivery
  • Data management - Use appropriate metrics to track and forecast delivery, manage expectations and highlight and improve inefficiencies in ways of working
  • RAID management - Enable teams by identifying and removing risks and impediments 
  • Culture - Build a positive, psychologically safe culture to ensure you get the most from the team, identifying problems and facilitating their remedies, and motivating the team to perform well, learn and grow
  • Facilitation - Facilitate agile ceremonies and workshops to ensure effective outcomes are reached 
  • Communication - mediate between people, mend relationships, and facilitate discussions about high risk and complexity even within constrained timescales
  • Financial - negotiate, influence or set budgets in complex environments
  • Value - proactively identify opportunities to add additional value for the client
  • Account growth - identify opportunities to grow K+C’s influence and reach across your client
  • Commercial governance - tracking budgets and ensuring accurate revenue forecasting, working with client service teams on any mitigation of commercial risk 
  • Contract definition - supporting in the creation of Statements of Work and casting plans inline with the agreed delivery approach and ensuring the early mitigation of risk in all client engagements 
  • Casting & capacity planning -  work with Growth, Delivery and Casting to ensure the right skills for your teams are available at the right time
  • Project admin - Manage timesheet submission, holidays & invoicing
  • Government Service Standard - experience of leading teams through multiple stages of the service standard process, including preparing for and participating in GDS/CDDO assessments
