Principal Full Stack Python/Django Engineer

The opportunity

The role

The ideal Principal Full Stack Python/Django Engineer for Kin + Carta is innovative, passionate about modern software development, has strong experience with public cloud platforms, looks to continually learn, and enjoys sharing expertise. Strong verbal and written communication are a must. Experience working in an Agile Scrum development environment, or in a consulting capacity is a plus.

 

Role responsibilities

  • Consulting with Fortune 500 clients in order to build enterprise-grade cloud-native applications
  • Develop and maintain full-stack solutions; front-end (user interfaces), back-end (APIs), database, and DevOps development to fit business needs
  • Coordinating with development teams to determine application requirements
  • Helping clients implement ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality, all while building intelligent solutions that leverage data
  • Interfacing with clients and providing technical recommendations
  • Helping evaluate emerging cross-platform frameworks and enterprise application platforms
  • Bridging the gap between elegant front-end design and existing enterprise back-end architectures
  • Mentoring less experienced engineers to foster their career path and growth
  • Supporting team members in order to deliver products to market in an efficient manner

Minimum qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience writing scalable code using the Python programming language and working with related frameworks like Django
  • 3+ years of experience working with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) 
  • Experience building, testing, and deploying applications with Docker or Kubernetes
  • Experience designing, building, integrating and testing with RESTful APIs
  • Experience developing enterprise applications that support high traffic volumes
  • 3+ years of experience working with relational SQL and NoSQL databases such as Postgres and Cassandra
  • You have a strong passion for building innovative and intelligent solutions around data 
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate technical topics to product owners, stakeholders and other business team members

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong background in Java and/or .NET, knowledge with Kotlin and Scala
  • Familiar with Microservice design patterns including Serverless and BFF
  • Experience in developing and implementing scripts for database maintenance, monitoring, and performance-tuning to be applied across the business
  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum development environment, or in a consulting capacity
  • Certifications in AWS: AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or a related field
