The opportunity

The role

Kin + Carta is seeking a Senior User Experience Designer for a unique contract-to-hire opportunity. This role will be a contractor of Kin + Carta for 3 months before converting to a full time employee at Broadnet, a client of Kin + Carta. The Senior User Experience Designer will work on a product team made up of both Kin + Carta and Broadnet employees, to help the Broadnet team design amazing experiences for their customers. Role responsibilities

As a Sr. User Experience Designer, you’ll be responsible for leveraging UX research insights, communicating your ideas visually, designing concepts for interactions, understanding and organizing complexities, promoting modern interaction design patterns and best practices, and working with cross-functional teams to build and test your digital experiences. 

As a trusted designer of Broadnet’s digital experiences, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on the company’s understanding and implementation of design practices. While collaborating with Kin + Carta’s other experts in design, research, software engineering, quality assurance, technical architecture, and product strategy, you’ll learn something new daily, and we hope to learn from you, too!


Minimum qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience
  • A bachelor’s degree in art, design, or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated excellence in interactive design, information architecture, and translating research into design decisions
  • A portfolio of work proving your UX and visual design ability
  • Proficient in design and prototyping tools such as Figma and Sketch


Preferred qualifications

  • Understanding of platform guidelines (iOS, Android) and responsive web design
  • Able to manage your own time on single or multiple projects, whether working independently or collaboratively with a team
  • Experienced in Agile, lean, or other iterative product development approaches (design sprints, scrum, kanban)
  • Confident in presenting work and articulating user experience issues and concerns to team members and stakeholders
  • Empathetic with the business and client when constraints are present
  • A genuine interest in building a diverse community of people and practices
  • A compassionate mindset of ethical, inclusive human-centered design 
  • A commitment to designing for accessibility



  • This is a contract role with Kin+ Carta for 3 months before being brought on as a Full Time Employee with Broadnet, a client of Kin+ Carta. While a contractor for Kin+ Carta, we are able to offer a comprehensive benefits package including: Medical, vision, dental, 401K with matching, and free yoga classes! The hourly rate (W2 and 1099) for this role for the first 3 months ranges from $45-$63/hr depending on experience. The salary range at the end of 3 months when converting over to Broadnet ranges from $85,000-$110,000 depending on experience.
